On The Line
Sur la ligne/On The Line 2010 Jan Gilbert solo gallery exhibition at 571 Projects, Chelsea Arts District, New York City

This project is part public art proposal and part public intervention on Chelsea’s then brand new High Line elevate public parkway, just a block away from my 571 Projects solo exhibition bearing the same title. This long dormant industrial railway became a viewing pedestal to witness the polishing away of the patina of the area. These membranes of that moment are envisioned to be re-placed in the same spots where they originally were shot at a later time to serve as triggers of lost moments/markings.
